SebumScale – Skin sebum meter for measuring sebum mass on the skin
SebumScale is an easy-to-use portable skin sebum meter. With the SebumScale, skin sebum excretion measurements with absolute units are now possible. The sensitive SebumScale measures the amount of sebum accurately in micrograms per 1 cm2. The portable and wireless SebumScale is a compact instrument that combines microbalance technology with the use of sophisticated measurement sensors.
BENEFITS
Fast and convenient measurement
Skin contact only few seconds
Fully portable
Built-in microbalance – no separate desktop unit needed
Measures micrograms, not units on arbitrary scales
Utilizes advanced quartz crystal sensor technology
The reliable sebum measurements are performed in connection with skin complications and in the claims substantiation of personal care and pharmaceutical products such as cleansers and products for anti-acne and oily skin.

Sebum mass measurement principle
The SebumScale is based on quartz crystal microbalance technology. The disposable quartz crystal sensor is placed briefly on the skin to absorb the sebum. The SebumScale measures the mass of the collected sebum by analyzing the changes on the quartz crystal resonance frequency.
An excellent correlation was found between the SebumScale device readings calculated from the sebum induced changes in quartz crystal oscillations and an independent gravimetric method.
